news, Yeti, Mith or reality?

The Yeti, cornered by science
"Researchers at the University of Oxford examined the supposed organic remains of the mysterious creature to see if there really exist."

A human foot compared to the alleged Yeti footprint

For the yeti, the mysterious huge, hairy humanoid that, under different names, say they have seen in different parts of the world, seems to have reached the moment of truth. And is that a group of researchers from the University of Oxford, together with experts from the Museum of Zoology of Lausanne in Switzerland have decided to take action on the matter and examine thoroughly the supposed organic remains of the mysterious creature to find out the truth. In the picture, the alleged footprint of a yeti in Nepal.
Yeti, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, migoi ... the names vary depending on which region of the world, but they all refer to the same (alleged) creature. Whether it is the Himalayan mountain ranges of Canada or South America, the story is the same: people who say they have found a sort of large humanoid, covered in hair and always tries to put an early end to the brief meeting.
Myth or reality? That is the question. Numerous expeditions, most of them non-scientific, have attempted to obtain evidence of the existence of the creature, but without success. Yes there is, however, an authentic collection of "evidence" of his physical existence, from tracks to droppings or even locks of hair.
Now, researchers apply to dozens of these "remains" the latest techniques of genetic analysis to determine if indeed the legends have some reality and we have a new species previously unknown.
Dispel doubts
"It's a research area in which any serious academic ventures with some degree of concern, says Bryan Sykes, the Wolfson College, Oxford. It is a field full of eccentrics and misleading reports." The researcher admits that there have been other cases genetic analysis of remains of the yeti, but none of them are recent.
Therefore, this research project could clear once and for all the doubts that haunt us for decades now and have been exploited until now countless forgers and false science.

It all began in 1951 when members of an Everest expedition returned with a series of photographs showing the footprints of a giant foot in the snow. Traces similar to those that would leave a human being, but much larger. That's when he began to speculate about the existence of a mysterious giant creature resembling a human being and totally unknown to science.
Since then, the "sightings" were fired. And not only in the Himalayas, but in many other parts of the world. They are there to prove it, the "sasquatch" of the United States, "almasty" of the Caucasus Mountains or "orang pendek" Sumatra.
Human origin
The serious analysis made so far seem to point to the purely human origin of the organic remains though, as Sykes says, "has never conducted a systematic review of all that stuff."
Now, researchers gather for study as many (alleged) evidence of the whole organic world. File will leave traces of Lausanne (Switzerland) collected by Bernard Heuvelmans for over 50 years (between 1950 and 2001, the year of his death). But ask other institutions and individuals to observe some useful material it sent to the laboratory. All samples are then subjected to genetic analysis, the results also are published in scientific journals, so that work can be reviewed by other researchers.
Of course, neither Sykes nor the other members of his team is confident that his investigation confirms the existence of the yeti. "I think it's unlikely she says. But on the other hand, if we study it, you never know."
